🚀 Space Coast Vacation Paradise

Vacation Paradise on Discovery
This season has been a great introduction into the cast members of RV There Yet? We started the season in Southern Arizona learning about Ranger Dave and Kalamity Karla's new retirement area. Next we got to visit Patrice's home state of Nebraska for what's turning out to be one of the most popular episodes of the season. The Grand Canyon episode was up next. We got to learn about Ranger Dave's background there, and in this week's episode we went to Florida's Space Coast and saw where I grew up.

Our first stop was at the Lone Cabbage Fish Camp in Cocoa, Florida. Patrice has never been on an airboat ride and certainly never been boating in alligator infested waters, so I thought it was an exciting way to kick off the episode with a wild Twister Airboat ride on the St. Johns River. She loved it.

Capt John Murray, CEO Port Canaveral
After our feet stopped vibrating, we drove over to the beach and checked in to Jetty Park Campground in Port Canaveral. Excellent RV park right on the beach. We were spending the next day learning about the Port from CEO, Capt John Murray, visiting the iconic Exploration Tower, and shrimp tasting with the folks at Wild Ocean. We used our RAD Power Bikes to ride from the campground to all the spots in the Port. It was awesome!

Space Shuttle Atlantis
On Day 3 we got an insider tour of the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex with shuttle commander and astronaut Bruck Melnick. We saw the Space Shuttle Atlantis, Planet Play - the coolest playground on the planet, the US Astronaut Hall of Fame, and the Historic Saturn V Rocket. It was a blast! We really needed 2 days to see it all.

Interview Ranger Kim Wren
Our final day of the Space Coast trip was reserved for wildlife. We drove the RV to the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, and met Ranger Kim Wren. She told us about the endangered wildlife at the refuge including the manatee observation platform and the Bio Lab Scenic Drive. Patrice got to see manatees up close in the river. We took the RV down a 6 mile one way Bio Lab road along the world famous Mosquito Lagoon and saw wading birds, pelicans, ducks, seagulls, turtles, and alligators. We didn't know what to expect and it turned out to be a real delightful day. Click the video below to watch the full episode from Florida's Space Coast.
