Production for Season 5 has officially commenced, marking the
anticipated return of our highly-rated travel series. We are filled with
excitement as we prepare to embark on another extraordinary journey,
traversing the stunning landscapes of this beautiful country. This season
holds particular significance as we join in the nationwide celebration of
America's 250th birthday, a monumental occasion reflecting centuries of history and progress.
Our journey has already begun with mighty momentum, as we successfully filmed
our initial two episodes in the historic state of Pennsylvania. The early
stages of our production schedule have exceeded expectations, an excellent
start to what promises to be an unforgettable season. We look forward to
sharing more updates and behind-the-scenes glimpses as we continue to capture
the essence of America and its rich heritage.
Our inaugural episode of the season transported us to
the breathtaking landscapes of
Northwestern Pennsylvania, where we immersed ourselves in the rustic charm of
Cook Forest State Park, nestled in
Leeper, PA. This verdant sanctuary, cradled within the majestic
Allegheny Mountains, proved to be an ideal start for Season 5. Disconnecting from the digital
world, with no cellphone service or television signals, allowed us to embrace
the essence of the outdoors and reconnect with the simple pleasures of nature.
The experience was truly invigorating, and we cherished every moment.
Patrice, in particular, found solace and wonder amidst the ancient sentinels
of the
Cathedral Forest, home to Pennsylvania's oldest and most magnificent trees. The towering
hemlocks and pines, some dating back centuries, created a serene and
awe-inspiring atmosphere, fostering a deep appreciation for the enduring power
of nature.
Our week culminated in an extraordinary encounter at
Elk Country in Benezette, PA, where we witnessed the grandeur of
Pennsylvania's largest elk herd. Observing these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat was a
profound and unforgettable experience, providing a powerful connection to the
wild heart of the state.
This first episode, rich with natural beauty and authentic experiences, set a
remarkable precedent for the season ahead. The echoes of Cook Forest and the
majesty of Elk Country lingered, fueling our anticipation for our next filming
adventure in
Centre County, PA. Our second week of filming in Pennsylvania brought us 2 hours east to a
location brimming with familiarity and charm, just outside
Happy Valley, the iconic home of
Penn State University. Our chosen sanctuary for this leg of the journey was
Bald Eagle State Park
in
Howard, PA. Here, we explored, camped, and enjoyed this truly beautiful park, its
landscape is majestically dominated by the
FJ Sayers Reservoir
– a sprawling 1,730-acre expanse of water perfect for boating and fishing.
Our adventures were as varied as they were unforgettable. We delved into the
earth's mysteries, experiencing the unique thrill of spelunking in one of the
most unusual cave experiences imaginable: by boat at
Penn's Cave. The cool, damp air and the echoing drip of water created an atmosphere of
ancient wonder as we glided through the subterranean passages. And for a
delightful, albeit unconventional, start to one of our days, we sampled the
legendary ice cream for breakfast at the 160-year-old
Penn State Berkey Creamery, a true institution renowned for its rich, creamy flavors.
Each experience cemented our newly-found love for Pennsylvania. It is, without
a doubt, a wonderful state, boasting not only a stunning and diverse landscape
but also a population of genuinely interesting and welcoming people.
