Lake County, Florida... here we come!! This week's episode took us just a
short drive from home in Tampa, but it felt like we'd traveled miles. This
charming slice of "Old Florida" is a place our family and friends have been
telling us to visit for years. Somehow, we never made the time to explore it
because it just seemed too close to home. Turns out . . . we couldn't have
been more wrong! We started RVing for a lot of reasons, but one of the biggest
(especially for Patrice) is that she's just not a good flier. Nope. Doesn't
like it. She's not afraid of heights - just doesn't enjoy flying. So when our
client, our crew (who's from the Lake County area), and our co-host all
suggested kicking off this episode with a sunset seaplane cruise in the
Seaplane Capital of the World . . . let's just say Patrice wasn't exactly
thrilled. But here's the best part . . . She'll probably hate admitting
it, but she absolutely loved every single minute of that flight. It's
funny how the experiences that push us outside our comfort zones often become
the ones we remember most. Come explore the beauty, charm, and surprises of
Lake County with us!
Day Two of production is always one of our favorites because it's when we head
out into the community to explore local farms, historic downtowns, small
businesses, and the unique experiences that make each destination special. Our
trip to Lake County, Florida, followed a slightly different itinerary - but
sometimes a change of pace is exactly what you need. We kicked off the day
surrounded by rows of sweet strawberries and vibrant sunflowers at Southern
Hill Farms in Clermont. We spent time with the family who owns and operates
this hidden gem, learning about their vision, their passion for farming, and
their commitment to creating memorable agritourism experiences. Patrice was
absolutely in heaven - we almost couldn't convince her to leave! The
second half of the day shifted into high gear at Revolution Adventures, where
we traded berry baskets for off-road vehicles and tore through winding trails,
kicking up plenty of mud along the way. From picking strawberries in the
fields to flying through the dirt on rugged terrain, we ended up with dirt in
our teeth either way - and loved every minute of it. Lake County truly
offers something for everyone, whether you're looking for peaceful farm
experiences, outdoor adventures, or unforgettable family fun.
We're taking you on a tour of the Dora Canal with one of the most engaging and
entertaining guides we've met on our travels! Our adventure begins with
CatBoat Adventure Tours, where you'll captain your own two-person powered
catamaran as you cruise across Lake Dora and through the breathtaking, ancient
cypress-lined Dora Canal. Follow your guide on a fun-filled journey while
learning about the area's rich history, incredible natural beauty, and the
local wildlife - including alligators, turtles, herons, ibis, and more.
Whether you're planning a family outing or a unique date, this is an
unforgettable experience. We're so glad we added it to our road trip
itinerary! After our day on the water, it was time to unwind with a visit to
Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards. If we say Lake County has something for
everyone, we ain't lying!
Just a short drive from Mount Dora, this beautiful, family-owned winery sits
on a stunning 127-acre estate and offers far more than the sweet fruit wines
Florida is often known for. Lakeridge grows native Muscadine varieties -
including Noble, Carlos, and Welder - as well as Vinifera grapes like
Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Petite Sirah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. It was the
perfect way to end an amazing day.
